12th Annual Walk on Blue Mountain
GRAND TERRACE – The City of Grand Terrace will host the 12th Annual Walk on Blue Mountain event, at the Corner of Palm Avenue and Honey Hill Drive, this Sunday, March 3, 2019, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The 12th Annual Walk on Blue Mountain event will take place rain or shine. Guests may park on the street, or at City Hall. Residents at the Grand Terrace Senior Center and guests parking at City Hall may take the City shuttle to the event. Hike participants must start up the mountain between 8 a.m. – 10:45 a.m., and start down no later than 12:30 p.m. Dogs on leash are welcome to join.
This year, distance and altitude markers adorned with rocks painted by community volunteers from the group “Grand Terrace Rocks” (search #GrandTerraceRocks on Facebook) will help hikers track their progress. The hike is 3.24 miles round-trip, with an elevation gain of 1,029 feet. Participants who reach the peak will receive special offers redeemable at Woody’s Classic Grill and at Odalberto’s Mexican Food. Children who reach the top will receive a small prize as well. There will be a devotional hosted by Azure Hills Church, at 10 a.m., at the top of the mountain and all are welcome to join.
The Friends of Blue Mountain will be raising money at the event for the future Blue Mountain Trail. Visitors may purchase “I Hiked Blue Mountain” shirts for $15 - $20, or “I Hiked Blue Mountain Visors” for $10. Cash will be the only form of accepted payment. Hikers will also have the opportunity to provide simple cash donations to the Friends of Blue Mountain.
